THEN, NOW ALWAYS

Who We Are

For two decades, Atlantis, Paradise Island has re-shaped both the physical and economic horizons of Paradise Island and The Bahamas.   Since first opening in December 1994, over 50,000 Bahamians have been directly or indirectly employed by Atlantis, each contributing to our success.  Atlantis is truly an experience like no other, creating memories for a lifetime – for our guests and employees alike.

Atlantis is a unique, ocean-themed destination known the world over.  Offering luxurious accommodations, beautiful beaches and pools, amazing water attractions, marine life exhibits, marine mammal education and interaction programs, a one-of-a-kind water park, a world class casino, a championship golf course, a mega-yacht marina, celebrity chef restaurants, a shopping village, and a variety of guest activities and experiences that can be found only here – Atlantis continuously redefines the travel landscape.

It’s no wonder Atlantis is the vacation choice of many celebrities, the home of premiere events in golf and college basketball, the concert stage for the today’s top artists, and the backdrop for Hollywood movie and TV productions.  Atlantis is a staple in popular culture and one of the best known brands in the world.  More than hotels on a beach, more than a mega-resort, Atlantis is truly a destination like no other.

More

Our History

May 1994: Sol Kerzner purchases a languishing Resorts International on Paradise Island from entertainer Merv Griffin and begins one of the fastest major construction projects in the resort industry.

December 1994: Atlantis opens, a totally transformed 1,147-room resort, inspired by an amazing legend. With a 14-acre waterscape of swimming pools, waterfalls, a lazy river ride, and six exhibit lagoons including a clear underwater tunnel in a shark habitat. Atlantis begins to redefine tourism in The Bahamas and beyond.
